National Grouch Day 2021 – Friday, October 15! On October 15, National Grouch Day was established to commemorate Oscar, the world’s most loving grouch from “Sesame Street.” This is a day to honor all of the grouchy people we all know of — or to appreciate the grouch that dwells within each of us. We would not let anyone to prevent us from whining, being angry, or indulging in despair on this day. Grouches got to do what grouches do best that is being grouchy! On most days, being called a grouch is a derogatory term, but that is not the case on National Grouch Day.

People are urged to be their authentic grouch during this day to their heart’s content. This holiday reminds everyone that it’s alright to be grumpy now and then. Admittedly, we possess the flaws of being human, so we’re going to grumble or be angry from time to time. This day also reminds us that spending time digesting our unpleasant feelings is beneficial. This is a great day on social media, with people sharing jokes, amusing memes, humorous photographs, and tales.

History Of National Grouch Day

This holiday’s origins may be dated back to 1976. It was around this time world’s most beloved grouch- Oscar the Grouch, was honored through the invention of this holiday by Sesame Street. Jim Henson developed Oscar the Grouch, and the role was performed by Caroll Spinney from the year 1969 up until 2015 and then by Eric Jacobson continued from 2015. The main color of the famous character was initially orange but later with time the character got transformed into the current color that we know of. Oscar’s hue turned from orange to green the next year when he went to see Swamp Mushy Muddy, a famous fishing area for Grouches. Oscar The Grouch, would keep his green hue for the rest of his life.
