History Of National Soccer Day
The origin of National Soccer Day is unknown but we think we know why it has been invented though! Each of us has experienced the desire to strike a rock that is lying at our feet, and a soccer ball is simply a larger, lighter version of that same stone. Based on this reasoning, soccer has existed in some form or another throughout history. Cuju, a form of ancient Chinese soccer, was played with leather and feathered ball. Later, cuju became popular in Japan under the name “kemari.” Parallel to this, the Aztecs engaged in a cultic game known as “ollama” in which the ball served as a representation of the sun and the losing team captain occasionally offered it up to the gods as a sacrifice. Eventually, rubber balls were employed in Mesoamerica to play games of a similar kind!
Soccer’s modern incarnation originated in London. Rugby and Eton were the two different game types used. Since there were few restrictions and the rules of the game were open-ended at first, a lot of people took up the sport. Nevertheless, the absence of rules frequently resulted in violent fights and fatal injuries. The game’s extreme violence and the high number of grave injuries inevitably result in a nationwide ban. However, the game was so well-liked that the limitations were immediately removed. In London, the first football association was established in 1863, several centuries later.
The association codified and created the initial set of soccer regulations. They also established guidelines for the size and weight of the ball used in the game and prohibited the usage of hands during play. The novel series of rules separated the play into two groups: rugby and football. Soccer players are not permitted to run by taking the ball in their hand, however, rugby players are. With the passage of time, the appeal of the game stretched from England to its colonies, including what is now the United States.
